Oklahoma Car Accidents
Car accidents are all too common in Oklahoma, with tens of thousands happening every year. These crashes can be caused by various factors, like bad weather or vehicle issues. However, the biggest culprit, both in Oklahoma and across the nation, is driver negligence. Over the past decade, negligent driving has become a major problem, especially with the rise in smartphone use and other handheld technology. Distracted driving is now one of the main reasons for car accidents in the United States.
Every year, more than 94% of reported car accidents nationwide are due to negligent driving, affecting millions of Americans. According to the NHTSA, over 6 million car crashes occur in the U.S. annually, and over 90% of these are caused by behaviors like intoxication, distraction, fatigue, or speeding. These accidents result in around 3 million injuries and over 40,000 deaths each year. Car crashes are among the top ten causes of death in the U.S., particularly affecting those aged 15-20.
