Poteau, OK (September 22, 2024) – Four people suffered injuries in a collision that occurred in Poteau on September 19.
At approximately 3:51 p.m., the accident occurred on Cavanal Scenic Expressway near Frazini Drive. A preliminary investigation reports that a 2001 four-door Buick was at a stop sign headed west on Frazini Drive. A 2003 four-door Mitsubishi was headed north in the outside lane of Cavanal Scenic Expressway facing Frazini Drive. While the Buick headed west from the stop sign into the northbound lane of the Expressway, it was involved in a crash with the Mitsubishi. Police say the driver of the Buick, identified as a teenage girl from Panama, along with two teenage passengers, were transported to the hospital by helicopter. All three had critical injuries. Two were taken to Saint Francis in Tulsa and one was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. The Mitsubishi’s driver, a teenage male from Shady Point, was transported to Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
