Payne County, OK (September 3, 2024) – An intersection in Payne County is closed due to a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday morning, September 3. The wreck took place at around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of US 177 near East 68th Street. Currently, the details surrounding the incident are under local law enforcement investigation. The intersection was closed while emergency responders worked at the scene, and local motorists were asked to avoid the area between 80th Street and 68th Street, just south of Stillwater. Police placed a detour in the area for local traffic, according to information provided by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. At least one individual lost their life; however, their identity has not been reported at this time. Police in Payne County continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
