Oklahoma City, OK (April 16, 2024) – A woman identified as T’Aundra Washington, 35, lost her life after a traffic accident in Oklahoma City on Saturday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Washington and her boyfriend were struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 35 near Interstate 40, causing their vehicle to go airborne over the Fort Smith junction near the Oklahoma River. Their vehicle fell approximately 100 feet below the interstate, causing them both to sustain severe injuries. Washington was found deceased at the crash scene. Her boyfriend was promptly transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the 31-year-old wrong-way driver who caused the accident was headed south in the northbound lanes of I-35. Preliminary reports show that intoxication may be a contributing factor.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
