Mayes County, OK (May 3, 2024) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a fatal accident that occurred on Friday morning, May 3, in Mayes County. Reports show the wreck happened on Oklahoma Route 20 near North 447 Road, about three miles northeast of Spavinaw. Brenda Grace, 62, lost her life in the accident. She was reportedly a resident of Watts. Grace was headed west on OK-20 when she was involved in a head-on crash with a vehicle traveling east. The driver and passenger inside the other vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Tulsa. Police report that Grace was pinned inside her vehicle for two hours before she was freed by the Spavinaw Fire Department. Currently, the cause of the incident remains under local law enforcement investigation.
