Oklahoma Car Accidents
Car accidents are a frequent occurrence in Oklahoma, with tens of thousands reported every year. These incidents can happen for various reasons, including adverse weather conditions and vehicle malfunctions. However, across Oklahoma and the nation, the leading cause of most collisions is driver negligence. Negligent driving has become a problematic issue throughout the country, especially over the past ten years. Due to the ever-increasing popularity and use of smart phones and other handheld technology, driver distraction has become one of the main reasons car accidents happen in the United States.
Yearly, over 94% of reported car accidents nationwide are attributed to negligent driving, a widespread and hazardous issue affecting millions of Americans annually. Shockingly, more than 6 million car crashes occur in the United States each year, with over 90% of them resulting from negligent driving behaviors such as intoxication, distraction, fatigue, or speeding, according to the NHTSA. Sadly, these accidents cause around 3 million injuries and claim over 40,000 lives annually. Car crashes rank among the top ten causes of death in the United States, with individuals aged 15-20 being particularly vulnerable.
